My name is Hannah Schlenker
I am a scenographer with a specific focus in set and video design, though I still love costume. Ideally, I like my designs to live and breathe as a character in the performance: kinetic sets really capture my imagination. I love collaborative working and being immersed in the creation of the production. By being in the rehearsal room my design can integrate and allow opportunities for directorial moments. This approach allows me to create profound and faithful stories by learning about other people, ensuring the work will give voice to the communities I am trying to represent. My German heritage opens me up to a European perspective and allows me to explore artistic perspectives beyond UK conventions. Because of this, I enjoy delving into diverse stories, including about women, queerness and other contemporary issues, sometimes using my work as a form of protest.
